Contd.

I watched 'The Namesake'. Yeah, I know, despite my absolute anathema for anything remotely Bong thanks to we all know who and my dislike for modern Indian literature which is often unnecessarily bogged down with 1.) horribly meandering verbiage and 2.) "issues" (sure, they are there but not ALL the time)

It was surprisingly awesome and the performances were the least of it - everything about the movie was just wow! And as a sign of complete wow-ness one of the final scenes is a flashback scene where the entire family is at a beach and Ashoke takes Gogol out to the sea. Conversation that follows:
Ashoke: "All this way and no camera. We will just have to remember this then. Will you remember this, Gogol? Remember that we took this journey and that we came all the way till there was nowhere to go."
Gogol(aged 4): "For how long do I have to remember this?"
Ashoke: "Forever and ever"

Or something like this, tried very hard to recollect it word for word, this is the best I can muster. And this is an extremely befitting part 2 to the last post.

P.S. I'm sure there are more scenes of "real" wow-ness but this is what I feel right now, screw everyone else. I've heard the book is better (isn't it always?) Anyone feeling charitable? Get me the collected works of Nikolai Gogol as well when you're at it.

P.P.S. I can't get no satisfaction.

That's what's playing right now.

It's not about necessity my child, it's about wanting to rub it in everyone's face saying, "I told you so - the book is always, always better than the movie." and preserving still this universal truth. :)
