No, reconnecting. Umm..no..fellow Boothie reaching out.. Err, not that kind of reconnecting. Oh well, might as well get to the point - Hello Blog, how have you been? I am sorry for ignoring you all these years. Are you mad? As you should be. I fell into bad company, you see. For the last two+ years, it has been work and work related travel (new job!?); TV (Hulu mostly); living-by-myself-in-earnest (living?..barely) and most recently getting engaged to The Boy (and you didn't tell the Blog!). Comments in parenthesis generously provided by Figaro, whom you may recall as my Persian cat. But now I'm back. To paraphrase Bots, "there is no braver man than the prodigal son returning home." So too, I return to you Blog, with the same trepidation and hesitant optimism that you will accept me as your own.
Now that the ugliness is behind us, we should.. wait, what it isn't? What shall I do to put it behind us? Do you want a gift? Can't buy your love says Figaro. Damn you, you fat cat. How about if I promise to start anew? Figaro reminds me that I have promised you that at lest a dozen times since we have known each other - shall we just say one for every year that we have known each other and move on? Thank you.
How about if I promise to stay in touch regularly? Figaro, coughing, not-so-gently. Not now, Figaro. I am in earnest this time. I even ended it with my other blogs. They only exist as labels under you, my one true blog. Don't believe me? See the newly created labels "The SK Mess" and "The Oneiroi." I am also going to create a third label "Be My Own Philippides" to ensure I am never tempted to leave you again. Now do you forgive me? Wait, what is that - is that the start of a new post I see? Yes it is! Happily now - yes it is!! All right then, my job here is done. Just kidding, it's only just begun. *cue Carpenters' song*
Blog, I want you to truly be my partner in this new adventure I am calling "October 29, 2016 Onward." I agree Figaro, it is a unique name. My Jane Kerkovich-Williams self has already identified a few phases in this adventure. Figaro is rolling his eyes at the comparison and that you don't remember Jane from Happy Endings, the best TV sitcom evva.
Anyway, Phase 1 begins October 30, 2016 and concludes November 23, 2016. It is a decidedly short phase titled Bridezilla. I am so confident of our successful collaboration during this phase that I have jumped on the sequel bandwagon prevalent in all the woods (Holly-, Bolly-, Kolly-, Tolly-, Sandal-, Elm-, Birch-, Oak- etc.) and announced a sequel titled Bridezilla - Unleashed. This is Phase 2 from November 24, 2016 to December 8, 2016. The collective goal through these two phases is to be the best -zilla for my impending nuptials to The Boy. You should see a lot of posts labeled "Training to be Philippides."
Phase 3 kicks in on December 9, 2016 and goes all the way to December 31, 2016. Losing the wedding weight; consolidating my recipes and getting on schedule for a productive new year are the goals leading to the apt phase title - How the Newlywed stole Christmas (in New York). Frequency of posts labeled "The SK Mess" should increase. At least that's the hope. We'll see. Maybe a Christmas miracle.
"Bondre for CEO" or Phase 4 rings in 2017 and stays. Forever. Figaro continues to echo forever in a creepy voice in the background. We, you and I are one team now, Blog, and we will be working to secure me yet another new job. What's that? Will I leave you once I start this new job? No. You and I both know that I was born to be CEO even if I may forget it at times. That, simply, is the goal in this phase - to keep me on the road to CEO. Blinders on and everything.
I already feel good about our relationship, Blog. Do you? Are you as confident as I am about this new adventure? What, you're skeptical? Yeah, same. Figaro too. But we will get through this together. You and I. And Figaro. And The Boy. And NYC. And The Universe. It's all one big Secret actually. I can feel the universe conspiring with us. Or maybe it just got chilly in here.
